Summary:
Slavonija, just before the war. Carpenter Kuzma Glavan falls in love with the young village teacher Ana. Her aggressive fiance Đuka can’t take the fact that Ana’s leaving him. Kuzma gets an order from the priest to make a statue of the Madonna for the village church. A model for the statue is his young wife, Ana. The relations between the Croats and the Serbs are more intense and the daily life starts to change. When Kuzma’s friend and underling stops coming to work, even the peaceful Kuzma realizes that the situation is on the edge…
