Summary:
This sentimental comedy, in turn delightfully amusing and tragicomical, tells a tale of working-class neighborhood in Zagreb during a ten-year period after the end of the Second World War. The story focuses on the Skrinjar family, who live in the squalid, yet homely suburb of Tresnjevka, and in particular on Tomica Škrinjar, who has fancied his pretty neighbor Janja since they were children. As they both come of age, Tomica is surprised to realise that another beautiful girl, Tonka, is blossoming right next door.
