Summary:
Black-and-White World, a drama series with many comic elements, tells a tale of two families living in Zagreb in the early 1980s. The stories of the main characters take us through the urban Zagreb of the 1980s, through parties, rock concerts, newspaper desks, cult gathering places for the generations, and encounters with a number of famous personalities of the period (ranging from rock stars and music critics to journalists and police inspectors). The day-to-day happenings, business and personal, intertwine with contemporary social events, rituals, customs and mishaps (Titos death, military conscription, shopping in Trieste, power cuts and shortages of various products, odd and even registration plates etc.), and together with well-known symbols of the early 1980s, create a recognizable picture of the period, remembered for the general liberalization of society and an incredible explosion of creative urban energy, and also for the collapse of the economic and political system, and of the brotherhood and unity myth, which soon led to the breakup of Yugoslavia.
