Summary:The series Crazy Roman Emperors, through modern computer graphics, reconstructs scenes from the life of four emperors who are remembered as having been crazy Caligula, Nero, Commodus, and Elagabalus; as well as portraying everyday life in ancient Rome. Viewers will see gladiator fights in an Arena filled with 50,000 spectators, the famous burning of Rome, Roman legions landing on the coast of Britain, and much more.
Crazy Roman Emperors is based on false assumptions about Roman emperors considered to have been crazy Caligula, Nero, Commodus, and Elagabalus. The series examines the roots of these false assumptions, mainly through analysis of primary sources from their times by authors who had exceptionally negative opinions of these emperors. The Scientific and Educational Programme team of Croatian Television also sought the professional assistance of the best experts on ancient history from the best European universities (Oxford, the Sorbonne, the Berlin Academy of Science, etc.).
More than 200 people participated in the production of this series, more than a hundred ancient Roman outfits were created, and exceptionally detailed models of the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus, and Nero s famous villa were made.
